GREAT YOU FOUND US!

So you want to know how to get the best out of this website? Well, search no more, there is lots of advice and photographs to support you provide good service to your clients.

Please be aware that we want to provide flexibility in language learning and speech learning so there are certain games created for the majority English speaking context but because of the various languages and learning styles of your clients. we can only provide games ideas and advice on how to use our pictures in some context to help specifically develop your clients' language.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS PROJECT?

We have taken from the UK speech assessment strategies as well as their games to create an online resource for photographs appropriate for Uganda in Africa.

One of the things they used to assess the understanding of clients in language and their listening skills is through 'Reception of Grammer'. We have created a few example sections of this, increasing in difficulty level alongside the mark scheme in English. They can be found in the 'Resources' section on the header, or here please be aware that this is an example version and we encourage you to create one in your chosen language and with your expertise:

Another resource is included is 'Opposites' slides. This would support the understanding of the contrast meaning of a word one includes English words to help the therapist understand what we are trying to portray but one copy has none, meaning you can adjust it to any language you provide your service in. This is found in the Resources section or the arrow above.

We have also created a PowerPoint looking in Verbs of action words. This is in the Resources section too. You can discuss with your client about what they are doing and pick out words that they may not be able to say clearly or if they are younger - to assess understanding.

There is a glossary file so you can talk through with your clients about certain words and try to say words that have similar-sounding and then you'll understand what letter they could be struggling to pronounce or hear. For the sake of flexibility, I have also included with this ready-made resource is all of the photographs I have used to make that document so you can make your own with certain words together to help you and the client get the most out of the session. This is found in the Resources section.

You can play 'Snap' or 'Same or Different' with your client with the printable we created from simple Clothes, Food and Animals photographs. It is also duplicated twice so all you have to do is to print them out in 6s handouts and cut it out and stick and tape it around cardboard or milk packaging then voila, you are done preparing! This is found in the Resources section.

We also have produces sequences PowerPoint for you to explore tenses, time order and process understanding with your client. This is found in the Resources section. Enjoy!

Still can't find what you want or want a very specific photograph? Then fear not, we have got you covered: I have categorised all the photos I had taken throughout my time here respecting the UK photo permission guidelines and put them all up so it's easily accessible and downloadable for you to use! You can find it in the 'PHOTO GLOSSARY' Section. Happy searching!

Still can't find what you like or want photographs with people doing certain things in? Covered, yet again! There is a google drive files of all the photographs I have taken with the white background when I was taking photos of people doing certain things like prepositions, sequences, silly nonsense things. You can find it in the 'Resources' section as 'Stock photos'

SOME MORE IDEAS OF WHAT YOU CAN DO YOURSELF!

There are some things that I think is best to leave to you to create specific to your clients' needs. But if you are feeling daunted by how much there is: fear not, we can provide ideas in what to do and how to create them from the photo collection. Take a look below for some hopefully helpful ideas for your practice!

Your client having trouble pronouncing or hearing a particular letter? Then you can create from our 'Photo Glossay' or Assessment Stock photos in 'Assessment' a sheet with similar sounding words in your language that helps pronunciation of the difficult letter to speak. This is helpful for me when I used the speech therapy service in the past.

Of course, I don't know how you structure a sentence in your language but this exercise is going to be useful in understanding structure and ordering in speech and writing as well. You can create something like this in English:

You can add your own photos to support our community of SLTs and Teachers and to view photos from other places in Africa here:
